My Sledding Girls. We had about 9 inches of snow last week. Everyone had a snow day from school, so we made the most of sledding in our neighborhood. Fun Day! Love my girls!

“Jesus does not forbid us to take a legal oath, but He warns us to speak the truth and not embellish our conversation with oaths that are supposed to strengthen our words. Have such integrity that people will believe what you say…

It’s been a few weeks since I went sledding with Emma. It was a great time to hang out with her and have fun. For her, the best part was coming back to the van and drinking hot chocolate and talking with me… Here’s what I am learning from this:
Life can be busy sometimes, but the intentional Daddy Daughter dates help me to connect with Emma in ways that meets her where she is at as a 4 year old. Often as an adult I want to sit down and have agenda about what I want to talk about. However, when I take time to meet her in ‘her world’ (sledding and hot chocolate), I find out so much more about what is going on in her heart and mind…
I am finding that meeting Emma in her world and listening to her heart helps me understand better what she needs. So often it is easy to parent from my adult perspective, but that is not always best. Listening and learning from Emma is key for me (and for her)…
Next Daddy Daughter date… coming soon…
As many of my family and friends know, Emma (4 years old), has been diagnosed with Celiac disease and now Addie, (18 months), has been confirmed as having a peanut allergy.
We found out about Addie when recently she had a reaction to peanut butter (a staple in our house up until now). We had already made numerous changes to our grocery shopping for Emma, now we will have to make some changes for Addie too.
All in all, it is frustrating and quite overwhelming for Lisa (who has to become an expert about foods, their ingredients, and where they were made, etc). However, we know many families have gone before us and we know we will figure it out.
Perhaps the most alarming thing is the knowledge that we will have to carry an epipen everywhere for Addie, and their could be some ER visits if she comes into contact with peanuts. Again, many have traveled this road and we know God will gives us wisdom and strength in this.
I am so thankful for God, my family, my church family and great friends who give us great support in all these challenges.

I believe people make bold statements to disprove God is because we do a poor job in investigating and communicating the proof for a creator… It simply is not reality to cover our ears and our eyes and hope atheism will go away… We can’t sit and wait for certain college professors to change their agenda…
We as parents MUST investigate and understand the case for a creator and communicate this to our kids. To tell them to “have faith” is simply not good enough in a world that is driven by REASON… Putting up billboards and saying “you are wrong” is simply not enough, it’s a start, but Christians need to start having answers for the world…
When we take time and invest in the truth, we are able to give our kids (and the world the REASON for the season… How are we discovering the truth this Christmas?
